M. Peiffer – founder of Anjou Navigation – tells his story in river tourism at Sablé-sur-Sarthe and how he and his wife managed to give it a fresh boost.
“We created Anjou Navigation in 1980. In the 19th and 20th centuries, there was an important river activity thanks to the transport of sand, slates, cereals, tuffeau stone and marble…
When we arrived, only a barge used for sand extraction was remaining. We were welcomed and supported by tourism managers of the region and we started our activity with 6 boats, all built in aluminium, well adapted to this new kind of tourism.
Marina equipments were progressively set up : decks, marinas, river maps editions, locks. We wanted to take part in the improvement of the yachtsmen’s well-being as we could. As volunteers, we helped to set up pontoons upstream and downstream the locks, ropes hanging in the locks as well as port offices…
Our first motto was ” Live a wise adventure”. Today we still think that boating holidays with your family or friends allow a peaceful and discovery time.
As we are about to retire, Anjou Navigation remains a family business with the same responsible, family-business spirit, that aims at satisfying you.
Today, our small family company carries on changing and developing thanks to a solid team, all sharing the same values.”

Despite our will to make our best before your departure, some inconvenience may occur. Our first job is then to help you as fast as possible, so that you can carry on navigating peacefully. We consider that our job does not end once you have booked the boat ! We always remain at your disposal to answer all of your questions to organise your cruise.
