Keep in mind, navigating is a bit more tiring during low season. On the contrary, between May and September : the lock keepers’ help will make this task smoother.

First lovers' evening

For this first evening, no need to be far (1 hour of navigation), two beautiful spots will are available for this first halt. Moor alongside the castle of the Isle Briand (and its parc dedicated to horses and open to public). Otherwise, choose the symbolic atmosphere of the marian grotto of Montreuil Sur Maine. In any case : a perfect moment to enjoy the terrace and listen to the soothing water lapping against the hull.

Saturday : stroll and sail in the countryside

Making route toward the millenial city of Château Gontier, a first halt (2 hours of sailing) is available in the marina of Chenillé Changé, a lovely village. During a walk, you can visit the watermill (open to public) or the Domaine des Rues farm. For a panoramic view, trek up the Virgin’s Coteau that provides a beautiful view of the river.

You will also find the renowned restaurant La Table du Meunier, on the banks of the river.

Keep on navigating along the mills, castles and manors scattered along the river of Mayenne. You will go through some villages such as La Jaille-Yvon and Daon.

In the afternoon (after 3 hours of navigation), you will finally reach the millenial city of Château Gontier.

Saturday night : city break

A halt is in order. Have a stroll through this town paved streets and its famous timbered house. Your steps might take you to “the garden of the edge of the world” !

During the evening, the center town has many restaurant offers. Otherwise, you can find moorings away from the bustle in the parc of Azé. The gastronomic restaurant there “Le Prieuré” can be a fancier option for your romantic getaway.

Last day of your Romantic Boat Hire in France : let the river flow you back

When the morning comes, the cruise continue by heading back toward Grez-Neuville.

On the way, a countryside stroll (40 minutes) from the village of Ménil to the castle or la Magnanne is possible.

Then, why not enjoy one of the french typical “guinguette” restaurant : « la guiguette du bac » in Ménil, « la Cabane » in Daon or « l’Embellie » in La Jaille Yvon. A last pause before the afternoon trip (3 hours) in the verdant landscapes of the Mayenne.

Back to the marina of Grez-Neuville, one last mooring, one last knot to conclude this experience.

You have the opportunity to extend your stay for free for a last night on board ! It would allow you to enjoy the beautifull spot of Grez-Neuville. A keybox is available for any departure outside of office hours. Otherwise, meeting is scheduled at 9AM Monday for the key return.
